UK’s leading baby food brand achieves record score as it welcomes the launch of new standards

Ella’s Kitchen has reaffirmed its commitment to people and the planet by achieving its highest-ever B Corp certification score of 103 - surpassing the ambitious 100-point target the company set for itself in 2021.

As one of the UK’s first food brands to achieve B Corp status in 2016, Ella’s Kitchen has embedded social and environmental responsibility at the heart of its business. The latest certification reflects significant progress in key impact areas, from strengthening workforce policies to deepening community engagement, championing climate action and protecting nature.

This success has been driven by Ella’s Kitchen launching a number of new partnerships and initiatives to deliver their promise to use business as a force for good and drive meaningful change for future generations. It has inspired action including:

  • Championing nature with the RSPB: A long-term collaborative partnership with the UK’s leading conservation organisation to protect and restore 30 million square feet of wildflower meadows by 2030, helping biodiversity thrive.
  • Protecting and supporting vulnerable little ones and their families with Action for Children: In 2024, Ella’s Kitchen launched an on-pack ‘Melty Sticks’ limited edition product campaign, donating 30p per pack to Action for Children - raising £91,500 to provide hot meals, warm clothing, and gifts for vulnerable children across the UK.
  • Campaigning to put Little Futures First: Launching an advocacy campaign urging the government to introduce a Future Generations Act to protect our children’s future, delivering a 14,000-signature petition to 10 Downing Street.
  • Driving forward action on climate change: Working with Foodsteps (specialised food sustainability platform) to enable data-driven decisions to reduce the environmental impact of their products, and rolling out 71% of Ella’s Kitchen pouches into monomaterial packaging, making recycling easier for parents and carers.
  • Helping their people grow, develop and thrive: Relaunching their B Corp mentorship scheme; empowering the team to make a difference through volunteering; and fostering a culture of togetherness through a DEI workforce strategy.

Ella’s Kitchen’s recertification comes as B Corp prepares to introduce a new, more rigorous set of standards in 2025. These changes will raise the bar for businesses worldwide, elevating expectations of companies committed to balancing profit with purpose.

"We’re incredibly proud of our team and everything we have achieved in recertifying as a B Corp, but we know there’s still much more to do. This year, B Corp is introducing a new set of standards, making certification even tougher—not just for Ella’s but for every business committed to this movement. And you know what? We welcome it.

If we’re serious about tackling the health, social, and environmental challenges that my children—and future generations—will inherit, then business has to step up. Business needs to be better. These new standards will push us to think harder, act smarter, and continuously improve.

Like all businesses, we’re not perfect. We know there are challenges ahead—whether it’s improving the nutritional profile of our products by reducing sugar and adding more veggies, innovating with packaging solutions that minimize waste and enhance recyclability, or delivering on our Science-Based Targets to combat climate change while protecting nature. We’re not just aware of these issues—we’re committed to tackling them head-on.

Some say B Corp is just another badge… but having worked on this certification since 2016, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact it has had on our people, our partners, and our customers. By raising the bar, the new B Corp standards will help us—and businesses everywhere—become the change-makers we need to be. And at Ella’s, we’re ready to rise to the challenge."
