We want every little one to enjoy yummy food and we know that great tasting food is at the heart of enjoyment. Which is why we’re always working to excite tiny taste buds in all our yummy weaning recipes!

We only pick the tastiest fruits + veggies harvested in season, we introduce new flavours like lemongrass, ginger + rhubarb and add taste twists like herbs and spices into our yummy food which little ones might not experience at home. And we know little ones + parents love it!

We’re suuuper proud to have been voted ‘Most Loved by Little People’ AND ‘Most Loved by UK Parents!’ Yip-pea!

It is time to take a taste adventure!

Offering your little one a wide range of tastes throughout weaning doesn’t just create more excitement for tiny taste buds that have been used to just the taste of their usual milk, it can help babies + toddlers to become more willing to try new foods!

Whether it’s giving your little one a rainbow of veg + fruit each week, offering pulses, eggs, meat + fish for protein or using a wide variety of grains like quinoa, oats or couscous (rather than just bread and pasta), lots of variety keeps things interesting + has real benefits for your baby’s development and building their healthy relationship with food.

Adding yummy taste twists couldn’t be easier

Introducing exciting new foods, especially veggies, can feel like another thing to do and you can quickly run out of inspiration, especially if your little one rejects a new food. Remember, it can take up to 10 tries of something new before it’s accepted so don’t give up. We’ve popped some ideas below to get you started, but once your little one is happily munching on lots of delicious veggies + fruits, you can get creative and have some fun!

  • Try adding frozen spinach to curries, pasta sauces + one pot dishes
  • Spice things up with cumin, cinnamon, basil, oregano or rosemary. They’re delicious with roasted veg!
  • Add mixed frozen berries to natural yoghurt + blend for a fresh, fruity snack
  • Swap rice for quinoa or couscous + try wholemeal versions of pitta and pasta for a taste twist and extra nutritional benefits like more fibre.
  • Add a tasty boost of nutrients by using pulses such as lentils in dishes like cottage pie or spag bol

At Ella’s, we love variety too! We add a taste twists to familiar recipes like cumin in our Vegetable + Lentil Bake or cinnamon in our Cottage Pie. We also use veggies that are a bit more difficult to prepare and add them to our meals to take little ones on a taste adventure, like red cabbage in our Lovely Lamb Roast Dinner.

A love of good food lasts a lifetime

The more variety you offer your little one during weaning + beyond, the more likely they are to accept a range of foods and the more willing they might be to try new foods as they get older.

The habits they develop in those early years can last into later childhood and even beyond, so start your little one’s taste journey from the very first bite!
